After last year’s successful event during Keep NZ (Addington) Beautiful Clean-up Week we were unable to work at the Addington Cemetery on the 14th because of the rain.
We will gather again in Adddington at the Addington Cemetery entrance(402-418 Selwyn Street) on Saturday 21st September,2019 from 9.30-11.30am, initially for a briefing from a CCC Park Ranger on how we can volunteer, Health and Safety requirements, etc and participate in a bit of a tidy-up and also do some new plantings (last year we did a berm planting at the Fairfield Avenue entrance and it looks great).
Garden gloves or something similar would be helpful with the CCC providing a trailer, barrows, some gloves, etc, and we will provide some light weight gloves (if people don’t have garden gloves)-tools not required although leaf rakes/or hard bristle brooms would be handy. The event will also assist in promoting interest and pride in one of the Christchurch’s most historic cemeteries and reserves.
Certificates of appreciation will be given out at end of event and then we will have a BBQ at a local residence. Event co-ordinated through KNZB, Addington Neighbourhood Association, CCC(Spreydon/Cashmere Community Board) and St.Mary’s, Addington. If weather really bad would cancel event. Any enquiries please phone or text Allan 027-7259148 or email ajhud@xtra.co.nz
